In TT (Vietnam) [2019] EWCA Civ 248, the Court of Appeal allowed TT’s appeal in part, holding that the Secretary of State had unlawfully detained a person who was later confirmed to be a victim of trafficking, and who should have been so confirmed at the time the detention, despite his apparent involvement in a serious violent incident at the detention centre. However, the Court of Appeal dismissed TT’s appeal against the certification of his asylum claim and the lawfulness of his earlier detention.

Stephen Knafler QC appeared for TT instructed by Femi Lot of A2 Solicitors.
