Acted for Defra in this leading case on the powers to designate National Parks, in this case which concerned part of the newly designated New Forest National Park. This is the only case to deal with the powers of designation and the Court of Appeal had to consider the changes made by legislation which my client had introduced between the High Court and Court of Appeal to rectify the problems which had arisen in construing the designation powers.
