Public hearings before the House of Commons Select Committee on the High Speed Rail (West Midlands - Crewe) Bill opened with the Promoter's Opening Speech on Monday 19 March 2018. The Bill extends the HS2 high speed rail network from the West Midlands to Crewe, with services expected to begin from 2027. 188 petitions have been lodged against the Bill. The Select Committee will begin hearing petitions after the Easter Parliamentary recess. Tim Mould QC and Jacqueline Lean are appearing for the Promoter.
