The examination hearings for the South Downs Local Plan resume today after a programmed break with consideration of landscape, design and special qualities, biodiversity and affordable homes on Tuesday 4 December. Following which individual sites are being considered on 5 December and next week. Hearings this week are in Midhurst and move to Falmer next week. It is the first Local Plan to cover the whole of England’s newest National Park. The South Downs is the third largest National Park in the country with a population greater than all the other National Parks in England combined. The Inspector is Brian Simms. James Maurici QC and James Neill are appearing for the National Park Authority at the hearings.
