On 4th July 2022, the Secretary of State accepted the recommendation of his Planning Inspector Paul Griffiths, and granted planning permission for a scheme comprising 133 affordable homes arranged over 20 storeys on the Clem Atlee Estate in Fulham. The Secretary of State found that “the design of the proposal is exemplary and it would be an addition to the skyline of outstanding quality that would raise the bar for development in the area, and London generally”. Zack Simons appeared for the applicant – a joint venture between Stanhope plc and the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham at a 2-week inquiry in 2021. He was instructed by Matthew White of Herbert Smith Freehills. The decision is available here.
