Judicial Review, Administrative court
This was a claim for judicial review of the lawfulness of the detention of a young man from Sierra Leone awaiting deportation, detained for 9 months. The Secretary of State conceded the claim in its entirely on the very day before the substantive hearing in September 2007, and subsequently agreed damages well in excess of £20,000. More importantly from my client's point of view, he secured his liberty as a result of the claim.
