Opening Hearing of the Cranston Inquiry

The opening hearing of the Cranston Inquiry took place on 6 March 2024. The Inquiry has been set up to look into the events of 24 November 2021, when at least 27 people lost their lives crossing the Channel in a small boat. The Inquiry is being chaired by Sir Ross Cranston. At the hearing, David Blundell KC delivered an opening statement on behalf of the Department for Transport.

The hearing was live streamed on YouTube and David’s statement may be heard from 28.58.
