After several years of joint working Lancashire Cricket Club and Lancashire County Council have secured planning permission for the development a new cricket ground to provide state of the art alternative facilities to the Club’s current home at Old Trafford.
The new ground, which is in the Green Belt near Farington in South Ribble, will accommodate two full size county standard cricket pitches served by a new pavilion designed by BDP Architects. The scheme is designed to bring elite and community sport together: it will host men’s and women’s professional matches including T20s as well as being made available to local cricket clubs and schools, and will become a Women’s Centre of Excellence for the North-West of England.
Robert Walton KC was instructed on the scheme by Paul Newton at Barton Willmore (now Stantec).
