Inquiry

Housing appeal allowed in Hertfordshire Green Belt

Construction Housing Development

After an inquiry in February, a Planning Inspector has allowed an appeal and granted planning permission for up to 74 homes on a greenfield Green Belt site on the edge of Borehamwood in Hertsmere. The site is a draft allocation in the Council’s Regulation 18 local plan.

The Inspector concluded that the Council has a housing land supply of 1.36 years, attributed very substantial weight to the delivery of market and affordable homes (along with significant weight to custom and self-build homes), and decided that the scheme’s benefits clearly outweigh its harms so as to demonstrate the “very special circumstances” required by national policy.

Zack Simons and Isabella Buono acted for the Appellant, instructed by Oliver Bell of Nexus Planning.
