A planning inspector has allowed an appeal and granted planning permission for 93 new homes on Land off Spruce Close on the edge of Exeter. The decision is available here. This is believed to be the first decision in which an Inspector has considered the question of how co-living schemes should be treated when calculating a Council’s housing land supply. The Inspector took the view that co-living schemes are similar to other communal living accommodation, such as Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs), and that a similar ratio should therefore be applied. Zack Simons and Isabella Buono acted for the Appellant, instructed by Dr Thomas Rocke of Rocke Associates.
