A constitutional challenge by Jason Jones to sections 13 and 16 of Trinidad’s Sexual Offences Act 1986 was heard by Judge Rampersad in the High Court on 30th January. A major issue in the case is whether the laws are protected by an “existing law” provision in the constitution. Judgment will be given on 12th April. Richard Drabble QC (leading Rishi Dass of the Trinidad bar) appeared for Mr Jones.
