The Supreme Court is today hearing the appeal in R (A & B) v Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority & Secretary of State for Justice. The appeal concerns the question of whether provisions of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme that exclude applicants with certain unspent convictions from obtaining compensation are contrary to Article 14 of the ECHR read with Article 4; and the relevance to that question of Articles 15 and 26 of the Council of Europe Convention on Action Against Trafficking.

Admas Habteslasie acts for the Anti-Trafficking and Labour Exploitation Unit, which is intervening in the appeal by written submissions.
