The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government has today granted planning permission for a new settlement at Dunsfold Park in Surrey. The application was for 1,800 new homes and an expanded business park, together with a new village centre and community facilities. The application was called in by the Secretary of State in March 2017 and an Inquiry was held in July and August 2017. Between the close of the Inquiry and the decision, Waverley Borough Council adopted a new Local Plan including a site allocation for a new settlement at Dunsfold. The site is a former WW2 aerodrome which latterly became well known as a filming location for Top Gear. Christopher Katkowski QC and Richard Turney appeared for the successful applicants at the call in Inquiry. Richard Turney also appeared for the applicants at the Local Plan examination.
