Porthmadog Gas Works

Graeme Keen represented the Ffestiniog Railway Company (the Acquiring Authority) at an appeal in relation to an application by Hampshire Developments Limited for a Certificate of Appropriate Alternative Development pursuant to s18 of the Land Compensation Act 1961. The case involved cross-examination of planning evidence and the detailed legal submissions in relation to theoretical development alternatives (to the compulsory purchase scheme) which could have been permitted on the land (in 1997 or 1999), if it had not been compulsorily acquired for the construction of a light railway line.
