Planning permission granted on appeal for new retirement living scheme

McCarthy & Stone has secured planning permission for the construction of a new 44 unit retirement living scheme following the demolition of the former Priory School, Bolters Lane, Banstead, a locally listed building. The Inspector, Paul Jackson B.Arch (Hons) RIBA, held that the benefits of the scheme would outweigh the substantial heritage harm that the scheme would cause and rejected the LPA’s criticisms of the design of the scheme. Robert Walton QC acted for McCarthys throughout the application and appeal process.
