Newbury Regeneration

Instructed with Neil King QC to promote the compulsory purchase of a large part of Newbury Town Centre on behalf of Newbury Council and their development partner, Standard Life. Inquiry held summer 2007. Scheme comprises the provision of nearly 30,000 sqm of new retail floorspace (including a three level department store and 54 other new unit) 184 new residential units, of which 20% affordable housing, 757 parking spaces and associated infrastructure provision and improvements. The Compulsory Purchase Order has been upheld without modification by the Secretary of State in accordance with the recommendations of her Inspector. Instructed by Jonathan Bower at Bond Pearce.
