Four day Inquiry into an appeal, brought by Barchester Healthcare, a large UK care home provider, (which instructed Paul Tucker) seeking a major extension to a nursing home in the Green Belt to provide a state of the art home for young physically disabled people, in need of full time care and highly intensive medical and therapeutic support. Instructed by Solicitor to Chiltern District Council to defend the Council's decision to refuse permission at appeal. The case was important because it involved a detailed consideration of "very special circumstances" to justify development in the Green Belt and Alternatives. Handling the case involved very sensitive consideration of the medical situation of some very vulnerable people. The appeal was dismissed in November 2006.
