Case

OSS Group Limited v Environment Agency

Acted at first instance (admin court) for OSS Ltd. Led Stephen Tromans. Other side John Howell QC. OSS made a product from reclaimed waste oils, designed for burning in installations such as cement works in substitution for natural products such as gasoline. Case involved application of the definition of waste in the relevant EU legislation. If the OSS product continued to be waste, the installations in which it was burnt would have to be subject to a tighter licensing regime. The definition of waste (and "end of waste") has been contentious at the EU level.
