Liverpool City Council & Plus Dane Group v SSCLG & Save Britain’s Heritage

Following a called-in hybrid planning application and compulsory purchase order Inquiry relating to the controversial demolition of hundreds of houses in a renewal area and regeneration with modern residential scheme, at which Graeme represented (with David Elvin QC) Liverpool CC and Plus Dane, the Inspector recommended permission be granted and the CPO confirmed. However, the SoS refused to grant permission & confirm the CPO. LCC and PDG challenged the decisions (judicial review of the planning decision and a statutory appeal of the CPO decision). Following negotiations, the challenge was withdrawn in December 2015.
