House of Lords, 2007. Instructed by the DWP (Marsha Rose). I led Julie Anderson. The opposing Silk was Richard Drabble QC. The case concerned the construction of benefit regulations for asylum seekers. Its importance lay in the attempt by the applicants to have the House of Lords construe the regulations by reference to Article 31 of the Refugee Convention. That attempt was successfully thwarted.
