Case

AA (Saudi Arabia) v Secretary of State for the Home Department. [2009] EWCA Civ 1241

Court of Appeal (Civil Division) Where a senior immigration judge had failed to have proper regard to an expert’s report about the status of stateless persons in Saudi Arabia when dismissing an appeal against a refusal to grant asylum, a second-stage reconsideration was ordered. It was hoped that use would be made of the Protocol, which was understood to exist, for Saudi Arabia to give the United Kingdom government information about whether individuals were or were not registered in that country.
