Public Inquiry into inhuman and degrading treatment at Brook House

The Public Inquiry into inhuman and degrading treatment at Brook House Immigration Removal Centre opened today with submissions from core participants on undertakings and other procedural matters. Alex Goodman is representing two core participants including MA whose abuse by G4S guards was caught on undercover filming for Panorama. Alex represented MA last year in his successful claim for judicial review by which Mrs Justice May ordered this inquiry must take place. The inquiry is expected to continue over the next 12 months and to report in 2022. The final judgement can be found here.
