The Paradise Circus City Centre CPO facilitated the redevelopment of the Paradise Circus area of Birmingham, which is home to the principal civic buildings of the City, as part of the Big City Plan and to a Masterplan designed by Glen Howells.

The redevelopment involved the demolition of a number of valued building, including the Central Library (replaced by the Library of Birmingham) and the School of Music, but also the demolition and unlocking of the “concrete collar” formed by that part of the inner ring road. Argent’s redevelopment will deliver 1.8m sq ft of floorspace as well as significant civic and public spaces, and is one of the largest city centre redevelopment projects in England.
