Holman J yesterday granted permission to the Claimant "MA" to challenge the failure of the Home Office to instigate an independent inquiry into allegations of inhuman and degrading treatment of vulnerable detainees at Brook House in breach of article 3 of ECHR. Assaults on the Claimant by detention centre officers were secretly filmed by the BBC for Panorama leading to the dismissal of ten staff and a criminal investigation. Alex Goodman is acting for the Claimant MA in the judicial review and a civil claim for damages. The hearing will be in October. For more information, see the Independent and the Guardian.
