Nottinghamshire Minerals Local Plan adopted

Calverton 2043139 1920

Nottinghamshire County Council has adopted the Nottinghamshire Minerals Local Plan on 25 March 2021, following Examination in Public. Mr Nicholas Palmer, an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State, found that the Plan was sound following the making of a number of Main Modifications. The hearings in the examination process took place in October 2020  (one of the first EiPs to take place “virtually”). The process of consultation into proposed Main Modifications was also undertaken during times of restrictions arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Nottinghamshire Minerals Local Plan covers the period to 2036 and contains policies setting out: how much mineral is likely to be needed; site specific allocations to meet identified demand and provide a steady and adequate supply of minerals over the plan period; and development management policies against which future minerals development will be assessed in order to protect and improve the environment and the quality of life of local communities. The Nottinghamshire Minerals Local Plan is the culmination of many years of work. Graeme Keen QC advised the Council during preparation of the Plan and appeared at the Examination (Paul Brown QC also advised the Council earlier in the preparation process).
