Margherita Cornaglia joins Landmark Chambers

Landmark Chambers is delighted to welcome Margherita Cornaglia, a barrister with a dynamic and growing practice in climate and environmental law. Margherita brings particular expertise in strategic litigation against public and private entities, with a focus on climate justice, human rights, and corporate accountability.

Margherita advises on a wide range of matters across public, private, and international environmental law. Her recent work includes acting for Friends of the Earth and others in the first claim concerning Part 4 of the Climate Change Act, and representing Clear the Air in Havering in a judicial review on airborne pollutants. She also acted as junior counsel in the landmark case of Duarte Agostinho v Portugal and 32 other States before the European Court of Human Rights.

Margherita is instructed in several claims against corporate entities for environmental harm, greenwashing, and climate damages. She is also acting in a world-first OECD complaint concerning “advertised emissions” and regularly advises NGOs and funders on climate-related regulatory developments, including the voluntary carbon market and the EU Deforestation Regulation.

Internationally, Margherita has contributed to proceedings before the International Court of Justice, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and the European Court of Human Rights. She was the first Legal Coordinator for the UNFCCC Climate Champions and continues to work with partners globally to advance climate accountability.
