Rupert Cohen features in The Lawyers Top 20 cases of 2026 1

Landmark Chambers is pleased to feature in The Lawyer’s prestigious Top 20 Cases of 2026, with a landmark dispute getting underway today (16 January 2026).

Rupert Cohen, is acting for the Defendant, Save Wimbledon Park, in one of the year’s most closely watched cases: All England Lawn Tennis Ground v Save Wimbledon Park and HM’s Attorney General

The proceedings challenge the All England Lawn Tennis Club’s proposed £200 million expansion of the Wimbledon Championships grounds, raising significant issues of property, public law, planning and environmental protection.

Rupert Cohen acts for the Defendant, Save Wimbledon Park, which represents local residents opposing the development. He is led by Caroline Shea KC of Falcon Chambers and is instructed by John Gould and Michael Stacey of Russell-Cooke LLP.

The case is expected to attract substantial attention given its national profile and potential implications for large-scale development on protected land.

Landmark Chambers is also heavily involved on the planning side of the dispute, currently before the Court of Appeal, arising from a Judicial Review of the grant of planning permission for the All England Club’s expansion. Sasha White KC and Luke Wilcox appeared for the Claimant, instructed by Russell-Cooke LLP. Russell Harris KC and Andrew Parkinson appeared for the All England Club, instructed by CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP.

Together, these proceedings place Landmark Chambers at the centre of one of the most significant disputes of the year, with implications extending well beyond the Wimbledon Championships.
