Dr Ashley Bowes named Environment/Planning Junior of the Year at the 2025 Chambers UK Bar Awards

Dr Ashley Bowes has been awarded Environment/Planning Junior of the Year at the 2025 Chambers UK Bar Awards, a distinction recognising his standout advocacy, deep sector expertise, and influential work across planning and environmental law.

The accolade highlights Ashley’s growing reputation as one of the Bar’s leading juniors in complex planning disputes, judicial reviews, and environmental regulation challenges. Over the past year, he has acted in several high-profile cases, including:

• In the Supreme Court in CG Fry & Sons v. SSHCLG [2025] UKSC 35 (on nutrient neutrality and Habitats Regulations).
• In the Court of Appeal in Greenfields (IOW) Ltd v. Isle of Wight Council [2025] EWCA 488 (concerning a challenge to a major strategic housing scheme on the Isle of Wight).
• In the High Court in Shaman v. London Borough of Lambeth & Summer Events Ltd [2025] EWHC 1372 (Admin) (in a challenge to the holding of the Brockwell Live summer events on Brockwell Park in Lambeth).

Dr Ashley Bowes said he was “deeply honoured” by the recognition and credited his colleagues and clients, for their support. He added that the award reflects “the importance high-quality, commercial and practical advice at a time of intense national focus on housing delivery, infrastructure, and climate-related decision-making.”

The 2025 Chambers UK Bar Awards were held in London, on 14 November, and celebrate outstanding practitioners across the Bar, acknowledging excellence in advocacy, client service, and professional achievement.
