Miranda Butler joins Landmark Chambers

Public law barrister Miranda Butler has joined Landmark Chambers’ 51-strong Public Law group. She specialises in immigration, community care and public law and has particular expertise in claims relating to unlawful detention, prisoners’ rights, trafficking, and asylum support. Miranda (2013 call) has a broad range of experience in public law and human rights issues and has appeared at both the UK Supreme Court and the European Court of Human Rights. Having previously worked in refugee camps and prisons she has significant experience of working with vulnerable clients including unaccompanied minors and trafficking victims. Miranda previously worked as a judicial assistant to Lord Kerr JSC at the Supreme Court. She has also worked as a stagiaire at the European Court of Human Rights, working on applications to the court and supporting the UK Division with its caseload. She has also acted in various claims on behalf of freedom of expression NGOs before the European Court of Human Rights. “I’m excited to be joining Landmark at such a time of growth for the Public Law group,” said Miranda. “I look forward to getting to know my colleagues and to continuing to advise and represent clients as part of a wide ranging practice.” Joint Heads of Landmark’s Public Law group, Fiona Scolding QC and Samantha Broadfoot QC, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Miranda to Chambers and the Public Law group in particular.
