Report of the Cranston Inquiry published

Sir Ross Cranston has published the final report in the independent inquiry into the events of 24 November 2021, when over 30 people lost their lives crossing the Channel in a small boat.

The inquiry was announced in November 2023, with a remit to identify those people who lost their lives and the circumstances of their deaths, to consider what lessons could be learned and to make recommendations to reduce the risk of a similar event occurring. The inquiry opened in March 2024, with public hearings taking place in March 2025.

David Blundell KC, Harriet Wakeman and Claudia Hyde acted for the Department for Transport alongside Myles Grandison of Temple Garden Chambers.
