Barcroft Estates Ltd has secured planning permission on appeal for a 74-bed care home on countryside land situated adjacent to the settlement boundary of Newport, Shropshire. Notably, the appeal decision concludes that the scheme would comply with the Development Plan, in particular Policy HO7 of the Telford & Wreakin Local Plan, on the basis that the scheme would address a need for additional C2 development arising from surrounding rural communities, in circumstances where the Policy supports C2 development which (inter alia) is designed to meet the specific needs of residents, and where there was an extant and growing need for further C2 accommodation in the Council’s area.
Robert Walton KC advised and acted for Barcroft Estates, instructed by Paul Newton of NWS Planning.
