The inquiry into the comprehensive redevelopment of the Aylesham Centre in Peckham in the London Borough of Southwark opens today, with the inquiry due to run for 8 days.
The proposals seek to build new housing, create new retail and work space and improve public spaces. The main issues between the parties include (1) the level of affordable housing being provided by the development on site (2) the heritage impacts of the development in this location and (3) the acceptability of the loss of retail space in terms of the impact to the vitality and viability of the town centre.
