Marlow Film Studios appeal allowed

Appointment of Julia Smyth KC to the Attorney Generals Senior Treasury Counsel Group 1500 x 900 px

On 26 November 2025, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government allowed the appeal by Dido Property Limited and granted planning permission for the Marlow Film Studios project in Buckinghamshire.

Following a four-week inquiry held between January and February 2025, Inspector Katie McDonald recommended that planning permission be granted. The Secretary of State has accepted that recommendation. While concluding that the appeal site does not constitute "grey belt", he determined that the proposals should nevertheless be granted on the basis of "very special circumstances".

Sasha White KC and Matthew Fraser acted for the successful appellant, Dido Property Limited, instructed by Stuart Andrews of Eversheds Sutherland.
