Following pre-action correspondence, the Mayor of London has quashed a previous decision to accept Lambeth’s decision to grant planning permission for a controversial 20 storey tower in Brixton despite objections from Heritage England. The Mayor’s office accepted that there had been a breach of Article 5 of the Town and Country Planning (Mayor of London) Order 2008 as they had not been provided with all representations by Lambeth in respect of the application. The Mayor will now reconsider the application in light of all previous representations and further evidence advanced from campaign organisations. The result was reported in local and trade press here, here and here. The result was also reported by PlanningResource.co.uk here. Joe Thomas acts for the Claimant, #Fightthetower. He is instructed by Jamie Beagent at Leigh Day.
