High Court refuses challenge to major Fleet Street redevelopment

Save Britain’s Heritage has made a claim for judicial review of the decision by the City of London Corporation to grant itself planning permission for a major redevelopment on Fleet Street. The redevelopment is to include demolition of existing buildings, and the construction of a new Court building, police headquarters and commercial premises.

Following a hearing, the High Court refused permission for the claim on the basis that it was out of time, and refused to grant an extension of time. The Court also found that there was no arguable error in the City of London’s approach to heritage harm.

Save Britain’s Heritage has appealed to the Court of Appeal.
