Landmark's annual Property Moot Competition has been running for twelve consecutive years.

Property Moot Competition 2026 - 2027: First Round

Overview

Landmark Chambers' annual Property Moot Competition offers students with an interest in Property law the opportunity to test and develop their advocacy skills, explore complex legal issues and gain valuable insight into practice at the Property Bar. Bringing together competitors from universities across the UK, the competition enables aspiring barristers to gain first-hand experience of mooting before members of Landmark's Property team while learning more about life in Chambers.

Over the years, students studying the LLB, LLM, GDL and BPC have participated from more than 50 universities, competing before Landmark barristers with extensive experience across all areas of Property law.

What to Expect

The first round of the competition will take place in person at Landmark Chambers on Saturday 7 November 2026.

Throughout the morning, competitors will have the opportunity to develop their legal research, drafting and oral advocacy skills by presenting arguments on a property law moot problem before members of Chambers. In addition to the moots themselves, participants will:

  • attend a Property law workshop led by members of Landmark's Property Team;
  • learn more about life at Landmark Chambers and practice at the Property Bar; and
  • meet members of our Pupillage Committee to ask questions about the pupillage application process and the structure of pupillage.

Whilst the moot problems are property-based, we recognise that some areas of Property law may be unfamiliar to undergraduate students. The competition has therefore been designed with this in mind, and participants will not be expected to have specialist knowledge beyond what can reasonably be researched in preparation for the moot.

Entering a Team

The competition is open to students studying the LLB, LLM, GDL and BPC.

Universities wishing to participate should register by Monday 12 October 2026 by emailing propertymoot@landmarkchambers.co.uk.

As we are only able to accept one team from each university, we would be grateful if registrations could be submitted by a member of faculty or the individual responsible for organising external mooting competitions.
