Property Law Nuts and Bolts webinar series - Residential Possession Proceedings

Past event

Tuesday 16 September 2025

Landmark Chambers’ popular Property Law Nuts and Bolts series is back, with Part 1 taking place on Tuesday 16 September 2025 from 5pm – 6.15pm, focusing on residential possession proceedings.

Overview

Sections 8 and 21 of the Housing Act 1988 are minefields for the uninitiated. Missing a step in the process may be fatal to your client’s claim for possession. Understanding the grounds available, prescribed requirements and the makings of a valid notice are all crucial to delivering a high-quality service to clients. But the fun does not stop there. Once the Court grants a possession order, it may need to be enforced – and that is not without its difficulties. Lest we forget that change is on the horizon with the Renters’ Rights Bill seemingly mere moments away from receiving royal assent. This session aims to provide an overview of four key areas in the context of residential possession proceedings: s. 8 evictions; s. 21 evictions; enforcement; and the Renters’ Rights Bill.

These webinars are designed to introduce key topics that are likely to crop up in a property litigator’s everyday practice. The talks will provide an overview of the legal and procedural landscape, with time for questions at the end.
