Homelessness and Social Housing Allocations (Wales) Bill: all change?

Monday 21 July 2025

Join Landmark's Justin Bates KC, Crash Wigley and Independent Housing Consultant, Mark Prichard, as they take you through the key proposals and discuss their implications.

Overview

Although housing law is devolved in Wales, thus far, the Senedd Cymru has not departed significantly from the position in England, with Part 2, Housing (Wales) Act 2014 broadly mirroring Part 7, Housing Act 1996 and Part 6, Housing Act 1996 continuing to apply in Wales. This Bill marks a radical break with the previous position and will usher in the end of the priority need test and the concept of becoming homeless intentionally. Crash Wigley is providing evidence about the Bill to the Senedd Cymru.
