A ‘riotous’ time at the Landmark Property Moot

Residential property

The 1st round of the Landmark Chambers Property Moot was held at Chambers on Saturday 11th November 2017.  The Moot competition is now in its 4th year, and we were delighted to host teams from 26 universities, competing for 8 places in the 2nd round.  The students were appealing (and cross-appealing) against a refusal to make a possession order against an assured shorthold tenant who had participated in the “Referendum Riots” before taking his tenancy -  and whose presence, as a “convicted rioter and now infamous anti-Brexit campaigner” was causing concern to the other residents of his block. The standard was very high, and our congratulations to all students competing this year.  The following teams have progressed to the 2nd round, due to take place later this month: University of Bristol University of Cambridge London South Bank University University of Kent University of Oxford Queen Mary University of London University of Winchester University of Warwick
