Practice Summary
Christopher practises in the areas of public law (predominantly immigration and housing cases); property law and agricultural law. He has appeared as junior counsel in the House of Lords on 5 occasions and in the Supreme Court on 3 occasions; most recently in Quila and others v SSHD [2011] UKSC 45, [2011] 3 W.L.R. 836 (raising age limit for sponsoring spouse visa applications from 18 to 21) and DD v SSHD in relation to Article 1F(C) of the Refugee Convention and international armed conflicts ( hearing in May 2012 - judgment awaited).
Christopher has extensive appearance of advocacy in the Court of Appeal and Administrative Court and regularly appears in the County Court and various Tribunals.
In October 2011 Christopher represented the travellers at the Dale Farm site in Basildon in proceedings in the Administrative Court and in the Court of Appeal. R (on the application of Sheridan & others) v Basildon District Council [2011] EWHC 2938 (Admin).
Christopher’s reported property cases include Ofulue v. Bossert [2009] 2 W.L.R. 749 (House of Lords, adverse possession, acknowledgment of title) and Broomleigh Housing Association Ltd v Okonkwo [2011] C.P. Rep. 4 [2010], EWCA Civ 1113 (Civil procedure - Enforcement of costs orders after possession proceedings- making of a committal order under CPR r.71.8)
Notable housing cases include Boreh v Ealing LBC [2009] 2 All E.R. 383, (Court of Appeal, suitability of local authority housing);
Christopher has a particular interest in agricultural law and has recently acted in cases (both in the civil and criminal jurisdictions) concerning the Single Payment Scheme.

Christopher undertakes work in commercial law. He was junior counsel in the Court of Appeal in Whitecap Leisure Ltd v. John H. Rundle Ltd [2008] 2 Lloyd’s Rep. 216, which concerned a buyer’s right to reject goods and the meaning and application of a time limitation clause.
Christopher has advised on environmental issues and in particular on issues relating to land contamination. He has acted in negligence actions.
