Practice Summary
Aaron was called to the Bar in 2002 and joined Landmark Chambers in 2006. He has rapidly established a specialist practice in all forms of property law.
He regularly advises on both commercial and residential landlord and tenant points. In his commercial landlord and tenant practice, he deals with all issues of forfeiture and possession, 1954 Act renewal of tenancies, dilapidations and compensation for improvements, and rent reviews and service charge provisions, for both landlords and tenants. He has also advises in cases involving agricultural land and is expanding this area of his practice.
In his residential practice he deals with issues relating to occupational status and tenure, disrepair and possession; whilst in the LVT he deals with service charge and management disputes as well as enfranchisement and valuation (post Sportelli).
He also advises and conducts litigation on numerous real property issues. His high profile and reported cases since arriving at Landmark include High Court cases on the law of adverse possession and cases on proprietary estoppel and constructive trusts. He is also experienced in various forms of boundary disputes, conveyancing, disputed title and the registration of land, and issues regarding easements and covenants. Generally he also advises and appears in cases relating to the interpretation and enforceability of clauses in leases and other transfers of interests in land.
Aaron also has an interest in the more obscure and academic areas of property law and has advised and acted in disputes regarding ownership of tidal coast areas and river beds, ecclesiastical property issues (most notably the chancel repair liability of several large landowners based on tithes and rentcharges), and public rights over a privately owned castle.
As well as the High Court and County Court, Aaron has appeared before the Adjudicator to HM Land Registry, the LVT, the Rent Assessment Panel, the Residential Property Tribunal and in ADR in various formats.
He is a member of the Chancery Bar Association and the Property Bar Association.
Aaron obtained a First Class honours degree in law before being awarded a Trinity Hall research scholarship to read for his M.Phil at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He was an Inner Temple major scholar.
