On 1st December the Supreme Court delivered judgment in the cases of Secretary of State for Environment Food and Rural Affairs v Meier and others. The case concerned the jurisdiction of the County Court to make a wide possession order against travellers, giving possession of distinct areas of woodland which had never been occupied by the travellers. The Court, overturning the earlier Court of Appeal decision in Drury v Secretary of State held that the wide order had nee wrongly made.

Richard Drabble QC (leading Marc Willers) appeared for the appellant travellers.
