Charles Banner appointed as UK Independent Member of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency's Management Board

The Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, Rt Hon David Lidington MP, has today announced the appointment of Charles Banner as UK Independent Member of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency's Management Board. For the Government's press release, click here. 

The Agency provides European Union institutions with assistance and expertise on fundamental rights in liaison with the Council of Europe as well as other international human rights organisations. It is also empowered to provide assistance and guidance to Member States when they are implementing EU law.

The Management Board is composed of one independent person appointed by each Member State, one independent person appointed by the Council of Europe and two representatives of the European Commission.

The Board meets twice a year at the Fundamental Rights Agency's offices in Vienna.
