Gwion Lewis appointed to Welsh Government’s Welsh Language Partnership Council

We are pleased to announce that the Welsh Government has appointed Gwion Lewis to a 3-year term as a member of its Welsh Language Partnership Council. The Council was established under section 149 of the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011 to advise the Welsh Ministers on matters relating to the Welsh language.

Gwion Lewis will serve as the legal member of the Council and joins 9 others with expertise in various areas including education, business, the arts and language planning. One of the main responsibilites of the new Council will be to advise the Welsh Government on the implementation of its Welsh Language Strategy and its target of increasing the number of Welsh speakers to 1 million by 2050.

The Welsh Minister for Lifelong Learning and Welsh Language has confirmed the appointment in a written statement.
