Bid to stop publication of Air Quality Plan rejected

DATE: 27 Apr 2017

The Government's bid to stop the publication of the draft Air Quality Plan has been rejected by the High Court.  ClientEarth had successfully persuaded the Court in November 2016 that the Government had to publish an amended Air Quality Plan in order to comply with Air Quality Regulations. The Government went to Court today to argue that it should not have to publish the Plan until after the General Election, because of the “purdah” policy. The Court rejected the Government’s arguments and ordered that the draft Plan must be produced on 8 May.
