Crowley (t/a Contraband Discount Stores) v. Liverpool PSDA Ltd [2007] R.V.R. 125

The first Lands Tribunal CPO compensation claim arising out of the £1bn Paradise Project regeneration scheme in Liverpool city centre.

 

 

The claimant, the owner of a discount retail store whose premises were acquired under the Liverpool City Council (Paradise Street Development Area, Liverpool) Compulsory Purchase Order 2003, sought £1.7million in compensation. The defendants, the acquiring authority and its development partner, argued that the true value of the claim was £240,000. Following a two-week hearing, the Lands Tribunal determined the value of the claim at £700,000.
